About the Review
Last Updated on Tuesday, 05 July 2011
Between September 2010 and February 2011, many Victorian towns and communities were affected by floods that caused widespread damage and loss.
Several communities were subjected to successive floods causing repeated damage.
On 8 February 2011, Premier of Victoria Ted Baillieu announced the Review of the 2010-11 Flood Warnings and Response.
The review, led by Mr Neil Comrie AO APM, former Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police and current Bushfires Royal Commission Implementation Monitor, will examine aspects of flood response and recovery, emergency warnings and evacuations in accordance with its terms of reference.
Community knowledge and experience will form an important base for the work of the review. Victorians, particularly those from flood-affected areas, are encouraged to contribute to the review through written submissions and attending community consultation meetings.
The review findings will help guide the government’s response and planning to ensure Victoria is better equipped to deal with similarly severe flooding events in the future.
An interim report will be submitted to the Premier by 30 June 2011 and a final report is due on 1 December 2011.
